Cardiology Fundamentals
This section will cover the fundamentals necessary for understanding ECGs. This starts with the basic anatomy of the heart and its conduction system. After this, we will review the mechanics of the cardiac pump and how this is coupled with the heart's electrical system. We then cover basic electrophysiology, and finish off the section with an overview of the normal cardiac electrical activation and recovery.
This section focuses on details relevant for laying the groundwork for your journey through the remainder of the site. More advanced cardiology topics are discussed throughout the site, and additional external resources for further reading are also available.
